Week one of my job down.

19 May

It’s honestly not too bad. There’s four of us who are there during the day. I pack shipments. I stock shelves. I design labels for catalogs. And today, as it was a slow day, I got to play with the puppy that my friend brought in. My friend is the one who actually got me the job, as it’s his family’s from what I understand. Honestly, I enjoy it. My feet hurt, as I’m not use to being on my feet for eight hours a day, and I’m tired at the end of the day, but it’s not too bad. I don’t have to socialize with people I don’t know or try to make awkward conversation, I just stay in the back and do my job. The first thing I’m buying off of my first paycheck? A new halter for my horse. It’s been a couple years since she’s had a new one, and I’d like to get her a nice one, as her’s is starting to fray. And then I’m saving up for a new cover for the bed of my truck, as mine is becoming a safety issue. The majority of the rest will be put up for school, and school books. And I’m trying to put a little up from each check for a new tattoo. We’ll see!

I’m starting my new job today!

14 May

Wish me luck. It’s going to be a long day, but I think I can do it.

I don’t understand why the elderly are looked down upon in today’s society.

10 May

I’m watching Betty White’s Off Their Rockers and my mom described it as “older people playing tricks on younger people”. It’s hilarious, and a little awful at times, but it got me thinking – why do we look down on the elderly? They made it to be as old as they are; obviously they know something. I enjoyed listening to my grandpap talk, maybe not as much as I should have, but I really, really dislike it when teens and young adults look down upon the elderly. Listen to them talk, they have a lot of interesting stories to tell if you’re willing to listen.

I’d like to start by apologizing for the long delay between posts.

However, I am officially on summer vacation. I had finals all of last week, and then I had to pack and move out of the dorm. Now, I’m finally relaxing at my best friend’s house; actually, I am currently on the love seat with my best friend and an adorable little orange dog with a curly tail. This dog, who now goes by “Gizmo” or just plain “Gizzy” was dropped off at her house, and he is just the sweetest puppy. He’s a good sized dog; not too big, yet not too small, and just the cuddliest thing. He’s currently laying with his head in my lap.

Anyways, now that I’m done gushing about this sweet little dog, let me share what I did today…

To begin, we started unpacking part of Jessa’s car so we could drive around in the same vehicle – both of our vehicles are packed full from moving out of the dorm. When that was done, we ventured off to the local flea market where both of us bought dream catchers, and I got a small, brass, heart shaped jewelry box. It, as well as the dream catcher, “spoke to me” so to say, and that’s why I picked them up. We then grabbed a cherry berry chiller from McDonald’s and drove down to the beach and stuck our feet in the water – it is SO nice here, I’m itching to go swimming. We then spent the evening with her Nanna. All in all, it was an excellent day. I’m here for two more full days, and most of a third, and I can’t wait to spend more time with my best friend!
